The killing of the elderly woman and her 2-year-old granddaughter as a result of intensive firing by Armenian armed forces through artillery and other large-scale weapons, not only contradicts the international conventions, but also shows the bloodthirsty essence of the Sargsyan regime and its hostility towards the Azerbaijani people.
The purpose of these bloody provocations, which are regularly committed, is to kill innocent civilians and to create psychological tensions among the local population. The killing of a 2-year-old child by Armenian armed forces is the continuation of the brutal massacre committed by the Armenian government during the Khojaly tragedy and the next product of the same bloodthirsty mentality. This is the most terrible tragedy and terrror against humanity.
“The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group held talks in Vienna, Austria, and the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan are scheduled to meet on July 11. Every time at such occassions Armenia resorts to provocations. Since 1994, Armenians take such a step against the civilian population,” Arzu Naghiyev, political scientist said.
According to analysts, Armenia wants to involve Azerbaijan in new military operations with this provocation. At the same time, they want to portray Azerbaijan as aggressor and violater of the negotiation process.
“Through such provocations Armenia wants to disrupt the peace process. It wants to demonstarte the world that the peaceful settlement of the conflict is impossible. And that is why they want to prove that the negotiation process must be ceased, and the lands should be transferred to Armenia,” Tofig Abbasov, political scientist said.
According to political analysts, another reason for Armenia to take that step is the internal strife in country’s current government and the dissatisfaction of the population with Sargsyan regime. By using these methods, Sargsyan is trying to control the situation in the country and strengthen his power. It is a pity that the states that condemn terrorism, and fight against it, still turn blind eye to the atrocities committed by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people.
“There must be certain pressure on Armenia. Leading states of the world should impose serious sanctions in this regard. We have to convey this issue to the international community. We have to achieve the sanctions to be imposed on Armenia,” Fıkrat Sadıgov, polıtıcal scientist said.
The killings of the civilian population by the Armenian armed forces once again proves that the Armenian state does not want peace and stability in the region, and its aggressive behavior, the state policy contradicting the norms and principles of international law, is a serious threat to the security of the South Caucasus. The latest bloody terror of the Sargsyan regime once again shows that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not a frozen conflict. The world community should strengthen pressure on Armenia to resolve the conflict quickly. Otherwise, large-scale military operations will be inevitable.
