On August 3, the members of the Board of Directors of the "Azerkhalcha" Open Joint Stock Company met with residents in the Jojug Marjanli village of the Jabrayil region liberated from the Armenian occupation.
"Azerkhalcha" OJSC press service said that the meeting participants discussed the current situation of the Karabakh carpet weaving, the development perspectives of the carpet weaving among the population of the regions liberated from occupation, the carpet weaving traditions of the Jabrail region, the involvement of carpet weavers of Jojug Marjanli in the activity of the Fizuli branch of the "Azerkhalcha" OJSC and other issues.
According to the chairman of "Azerkhalcha" OJSC Board Vidadi Muradov, the Jabrayil region was one of the historical carpet weaving centers in Azerbaijan. “Here, piled and pileless carpets and carpet products have been weaved based on Karabakh, Mughan, Tabriz and Ardabil patterns made in line with the local coloring,” he said.
Vidadi Muradov noted that the people in Jabrayil have preserved some of these carpets in their temporary settlements as the memory of Jabrayil. We are confident that all the occupied regions will be liberated in the near future, and Azerkhalcha will establish its new branches in these regions. The Azerbaijani carpet will be woven in everyplace where Azerbaijani flag flaps. As the Azerbaijani army progresses, we will create new carpet workshops in places near the trenches. Carpet weaving will become a major employment sphere in recovered areas, as is the case with Jojug Marjanli, Vidadi Muradov concluded.
Village residents, representatives of district executive authorities, weavers and mass media representatives attended the meeting.
